Shomik Verma is a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering with Prof. Asegun Henry, as a NSF GRFP, PD Soros, and now a Martin Fellow. Previously, he completed his Masters in the UK as a Marshall Scholar where he worked on solar devices, and his undergraduate at Duke University where he built record-breaking-efficiency electric vehicles.
His research aims to design, build, and test a carbon-free, low-NOx ammonia combustor that would emit light towards a photovoltaic array for clean electricity generation with costs as low as 8 ยข/kWh, cost-competitive with natural gas plants but with no harmful emissions.
