Meghana Ranganathan is a Ph.D candidate in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences. She works with Professor Brent Minchew, the PI of the MITglaciology Group which is interested primarily in glacier and ice dynamics. Her research seeks to answer the question: what causes the fast-flowing areas of the Antarctic Ice Sheet to flow so fast? In particular, she studies the effect that the crystal structure of ice has on the speed of ice flow. She did her undergraduate degree in mathematics at Swarthmore College and loves to read fiction, write and speak about climate and ice, and watch cooking competitions.
